The best Black Friday Kindle deal in Australia

There were some good Kindle deals right now and, in an interesting turn of events, Amazon is offering some of the best prices on its ereaders that I've seen in a while.

My pick of them all would be the 23% discount on the Kindle Paperwhite, which is the lowest price yet and very good value considering Kobo isn't discounting its 6-inch Clara BW right now.

I've done the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2024) review for TechRadar (heck, I've apparently done over 30 ereader and E Ink tablet reviews for this publications!) and I loved the screen. The E Ink Carta 1300 display shines here, and whatever Amazon has done to the software to tweak performance has worked. It's all quick and snappy and just how you want it. Can't complain about the battery life either.

My biggest complaint was that this tweaked software is quite large and if you're opting for the standard Paperwhite with its 16GB storage, about 4.5GB is taken up by the OS, leaving you with 11.5GB. Still, that's plenty for thousands of ebooks and, considering Amazon hasn't enabled Bluetooth connectivity in Australia on any Kindle, I doubt anyone will be storing audiobooks (which are typically larger files) on this device. Oh yeah, that's my other issue with buying a Kindle, but it may not be a deal breaker for you, although I personally feel it diminishes a Kindle's per dollar value compared to its Kobo competition.

And yet this is the best Kindle deal to be had right now.

A bargain set of brilliant 'buds under AU$100

While it's certainly true that the more you spend on a set of wireless earbuds, the better they're going to perform, Earfun is a brand that proves you can get perfectly good sound and effective noise cancellation without breaking the bank.

The Air Pro 4 are Earfun's latest set of earbuds and they continue what has, in our experience, a winning formula. The company has stuffed them full of features, which our reviewer did say could be a little to much in our Earfun Air Pro 4 review, but some users should appreciate the sheer breadth of customisation on offer for both ANC and the overall sound. A key upgrade over the Air Pro 3 is support for LDAC, meaning you can stream high-res music files from compatible devices and apps – even Apple's AirPods Pro 2 can't do that!

Battery life is pretty exemplary considering their price too, with up to 7.5 hours on a single charge with ANC turned on and up to 11 with it turned off. Plus, you get a total of 35 hours using the case, which also supports wireless charging.

To have all those features packaged up and pay less than AU$100 is a certified bargain if you ask me.

Two Blink home security cameras

You can't put a price on your home and family's safety, but you don't have to spend a heck of a lot of money to set up an outdoor security system.

The Blink Outdoor 4 camera is an easy and affordable way to add smart home technology to your house, featuring a long-lasting two-year battery, wireless setup, and an included sync module that allows you to respond to visitors, receive alerts and browse footage (captured in 1080p resolution) on your phone.

It cost AU$149 for a single camera unit at launch, but Amazon has since dropped the list price to just AU$99, so it's dropped to its lowest price yet for a single unit – just AU$39, which is AU$20 less than its previous lowest price.

In fact, you can pick up a bundle pack of two or three cameras too, and they're all heavily discounted right now!

Blink Outdoor 4 (1-camera system): AU$99 AU$39 on Amazon
Blink Outdoor 4 (2-camera system): AU$179 AU$71 on Amazon
Blink Outdoor 4 (3-camera system): AU$249 AU$87 on Amazon

Kindle Unlimited on the Kindle app and a Kindle ereader

Well, two freebies actually. You could get one or the other, or even both, depending on what you like. I mean, they're both free, so you could just get both.

OK, enough waffling – I'll get to the point.

You can get both Amazon Music Unlimited and Amazon Kindle Unlimited for free right now for three months if you're a new subscriber. That's a whole load of music and books that will be sure to keep you entertained for many, many hours to come.
