Amazon's 2025 hardware event is taking place today, September 30, and you're in the right place to find all the latest news as soon as it's announced.

The event starts at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST. Amazon doesn't typically offer a livestream of its events, and this one is no different. However, TechRadar team members Lance Ulanoff and Jacob Krol will be there in the audience, and we'll be posting all the news as soon as it happens right here.

Until then, we'll be sharing our expert opinions on what we're likely to see, and particularly how the new A)-powered Alexa+ will factor into proceedings.

What we're expecting

A few weeks ago, Amazon released a teaser image showing a few hints about which devices we might see during the presentation, and we have a few theories about what might be coming.

First of all, we suspect that we might see a new Echo Studio smart speaker, complete with Alexa+. at launch. As a premium speaker, it would be a natural choice for showing off Amazon's AI-powered assistant.

A new color Kindle is almost certainly on the way too, and judging from the teaser image, We're particularly intrigued by the snippet of text visible on-screen: "with the [...] stroke of a pen". Does this mean the new Kindle will have a stylus?

Our audio editor Becky Scarrott is hoping for a pair of new Amazon Echo Buds. More energy and impact through the bass would be welcome additions, along with active noise cancellation.

A new line of Amazon Fire TV sets could also be on the way, or possibly a new Fire Tablet range. Recent rumors have suggested that the company may be planning to replace its Fire OS with Android, which would be a big step, though according to the grapevine, that's not expected until next year.

Finally, there could be something surprising, like a new set of Echo Frames smart glasses, or an updated and AI-enhanced version of the Amazon Echo Auto in-car microphone. Stick with us to find out.

Fire TV sticks

New Amazon Fire TV Sticks are another possibility. Earlier this year we heard rumors that Amazon might be planning to switch to a new operating system (Vega OS), which would likely prove controversial. It’s not clear whether that would mean new hardware, but it might.

Kindle Scribe with color?

Amazon’s teaser image for this event was quite cryptic, but the bottom right quadrant clearly shows some kind of new Kindle with a color display. The Kindle Colorsoft launched last year, and now that Amazon has resolved a few early teething issues with its display, it may be ready to extend the range.

It might be a coincidence, but the tiny bit of text visible on the screen mentions putting pen to paper. Could this be a color update of the Kindle Scribe? We’re not sure, but so far it’s our best bet.

Alexa+ on smart speakers

Right now, Alexa+ is only available on the new Amazon Echo Show smart displays, but I’m hoping that might be about to change. The teaser image for today’s hardware event includes the signature blue LED ring of an Alexa smart speaker. I’m curious to see (and hear) what the Alexa+ experience is like without a screen, and hopefully we’re about to see a new Echo speaker that will provide exactly that.

Earlier this year Amazon promised that Alexa+ will be coming to almost all old Echo devices, so it would be great to know what to expect when that happens.
