Armie Hammer Cameos As “Kannibal Ken” in Music Video 4 Years After Cannibalism Claims
Armie Hammer is calling this action by its name—a tradition.
Four years after the Call Me By Your Name star was accused of being a cannibal, which he has denied on multiple occasions, he addressed why he took a bite out of an animal's "warm" heart during a hunting trip.
"You don't eat the whole heart," Armie began on the Feb. 11 episode of The Louis Theroux Podcast. "One of the traditions is you take a bite out of the heart. You've got all your buddies around you. They're goading you on."
"It's sort of like an almost overly-charged male rite of passage when you go hunting for the first time," he continued. "Everyone that I know who went hunting for their first time had to do something similar."
The 38-year-old noted that the reason he cut out the organ was "not for the purpose of any cannibalism or any sexual gratification."
He also emphasized that he was not interested in eating people, either. As he put it, "You know what you have to do to actually be a cannibal? You have to actually eat human flesh. So no."
As for the text messages that showcased his fascination with consuming flesh, the Social Network actor—who also faced numerous allegations of sexual misconduct but was never charged despite a two-year investigation by the LAPD—claimed they were missing context.
"As you'll notice, of all of the text messages that were released, the person who released them, their side was cut out of the entire conversation," he explained. "It makes it look like I was just rambling to myself."

But he did explain why he sent messages detailing graphic sexual desires and cannibalistic fantasies.
"Sometimes when you're involved with a person, and you're dating, and you guys are having sex and you are a bit of a provocateur," he said, especially under the influence of drugs and alcohol, "It's fun to ruffle feathers, and it's fun to push the envelope little by little."
He added, "Did I ever have any intention of cutting anything off of anyone or eating anything off of anyone? No. That was never really anything that I wanted."
This isn't the first time Armie—who shares kids Harper, 9, and Ford, 7, with ex Elizabeth Chambers—has had to speak on those allegations. He previously shared insight into his sexual kinks that led to those eyebrow-raising text exchanges.
"I like the idea that you are so completely mine," he said on the Your Mom's House podcast last month. "I can do whatever I want, and you love it because you know you're mine. This possession kind of thing, that's just fun to talk about, especially if you're drunk or stoned or high at night and you're texting."

Having his sexual preferences folded into the scandal made him go into "full manic mode."
"All of a sudden, you're just left standing there naked in front of the world with all of your proclivities or kinks being judged by the world," he continued. "There was definitely an aspect of your sexuality being weaponized against you. It makes it really hard for you to feel safe to engage in your own sexuality."
However, Armie has since reflected on where those feelings stemmed from.
"There are aspects of my behavior that I think were coming from maybe not the healthiest place," he admitted. "There were aspects of my behavior that were just expressions of my own sexuality. I had to comb through all of that and figure out what's coming from the right place, what's coming from a trauma place."
