CinemaCon 2025 is underway, bringing together all the biggest movie theater owners, Hollywood studios and industry execs for a four-day showcase of presentations and screenings, and we're here to roundup the most important entertainment announcements in one place for you.

The event kicked off yesterday (March 31) in the sunny city of Las Vegas with Sony taking the stage to unveil a packed lineup of new movies. But there's a lot more in store over the next few days, as we're still yet to hear from Warners Bros. Discovery, Lionsgate, Universal, DreamWorks Animation, Focus Features, Amazon MGM Studios, Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Studios.

Hollywood's biggest studios have been working on some huge movies, so it's exciting to get an update on where each film is at in development, with some far enough in production that there's been some sneak peeks of what to expect. So, sit back and grab the popcorn – here's everything that's been announced so far at CinemaCon 2025.

Matt Bolton, Managing Editor for Entertainment, stepping in here to say that while we only got a very brief appearance from filmmaker Zach Cregger about his upcoming Resident Evil movie, I'm excited about this one – despite knowing very little about it.

Cregger directed the wonderfully bonkers Barbarian, and has a new movie planned for release during 2025 called Weapons starring Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, among others.

He spent his time on stage talking about how much he loves the video game series, and I'm sure fans of the series are looking forward to seeing what version of that he chooses to tap into.

I gotta say, I'm equally fine if he takes it off into its own direction – I unashamedly love (most) of the Milla Jovovich Resident Evil movie series, and that really benefited from finding its own vibe within the (ahem) umbrella of the franchise.

The first big Hollywood studio presentation of the event was from Sony Pictures and according to attendees that walked through the casino hotel doors of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas yesterday (March 31) evening, it sounds like it was a packed lineup of new movies with many directors taking the stage to promote their films.

Tom Rothman, CEO of Sony Pictures, took to the stage first to give a speech that reaffirmed the importance of going to the cinema and making art of making movies. "The most important factor in the health of real movies...meaning movies in movie theatres, is the films themselves. That's our jobs. And we have some good ones coming," he said.
