Can you feel the chill in the air, see the leaves on the ground and are already fighting the urge to drink hot chocolate? Cozy season is officially here, and that means new Halloween and Christmas movies on Hallmark+. Don't get me wrong, there's already hundreds to choose from on the streaming service, but who doesn't love new content?

This new content is especially good when it's fronted by the Queen of Hallmark herself, Lacey Chabert. By the end of 2025, she'll have been in 44 original movies, and that's easily more than any other actor on the planet. After speaking to her, it's clear that she loves Hallmark as much as it loves her, but that doesn't mean things can't be done differently.

In fact, her two next movies – Haul Out the Halloween and She's Making A List – are set to have "a different flavor" to what we've seen before, according to the star – I have no idea what that means, but that doesn't stop me from being seated.

"We're doing a lot more comedy," Chabert tells me when I ask her how Hallmark has changed over the years. "Haul Out the Halloween premieres on October 11, with Haul Out the Holly and Haul Out the Holly Lit Up being the first two movies in that series. That was the first time for the network that I had had the chance to do something that was a real broad, straight comedy, and it was so much fun."

If you haven't streamed the first two movies yet, do so immediately. As you can see from the trailer above, Chabert plays Emily, who comes home to visit her parents, only to discover they're leaving for a trip of their own. She stays at their house for the holidays and meets members of the community who want her to join in the neighbourhood's Christmas festivities. Trust me, it's as sweet as it sounds.

"I think people are really gonna love Haul Out the Halloween," she continues. "I've also never done a Halloween movie! We have so many ideas and so much stuff in development that continues to give the audience what I think they turn to the channel for in the best of ways, but also elevate the storytelling in any way we can."

Then there's her next Christmas movie. Netflix subscribers might remember binging Hot Frosty last year, but over at Hallmark, this is Chabert's bread and butter.

"Andrew Walker and I just finished, She's Making A List," Chabert tells me. "We just filmed that in Vancouver, and I play a woman who works for a company that audits Santa's naughty or nice list. I love this movie. It's a different idea. It has a lot more comedy in it but still has a very sweet romantic side as well a romance story.

"I don't want to ruin it for the audience, but it has a little bit of everything. This movie I feel is a little more magical than ones I've done before, and it's a slightly different flavor. I love making the Christmas movies, because I love Christmas. It's my favorite holiday, and I get so excited to celebrate so it's really fun to make movies about it."
