Ncuti Gatwa and Cynthia Erivo are teaming up for a new animated movie. Channing Tatum hypes up Avengers: Doomsday. Plus, what’s coming on It: Welcome to Derry. Spoilers, away!

Fairyheart
Deadline reports Sandra Oh, Tara Strong, Emma Ho, and Delia Chambers will lend their voices to Fairyheart, an animated film based on Magda Szabó’s 1965 novel, Tündér Lala. The story concerns Lala, “the young prince of mythical Tundarra, who must save humanity from the wrath of the dark wizard Aterpater. Helping him along the way are his friend, Bea, a brave but lonely human girl, and Gigi, the magical capybara unicorn”.
Bad Fairies
Meanwhile, Cynthia Ervo and Ncuti Gatwa will lend their voices to Bad Fairies, an animated musical at Warner Bros. in which “a delightfully subversive gang of fairies shake up their magical world.” Megan Nicole Dong and Olivier Staphylas will direct, while Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss have been hired to write the songs. However, Isabella ‘Machine’ Summers of Florence + The Machine will write the film’s score, separately. [Deadline]
Miss Piggy
During her recent appearance on The Tonight Show, Jennifer Lawrence revealed the upcoming Miss Piggy movie is inspired by cancel culture, though she’s just the “ideas guy” behind the project.
So, during lockdown, one of my good friends who is not in the industry—it was also kind of around cancel culture. It was like both things were kind of happening at once. We were all locked up in our rooms, naughty people were being locked up in prison. Miss Piggy is a feminist icon, and she said it would be so funny if Miss Piggy got canceled. Now, that is not the plot, necessarily, but it got the wheels turning. There hasn’t actually been a feminist, Miss Piggy-starring…so, I started kind of producing it. But Emma Stone is the Muppet-head. Also, Emma Stone is a shark … I’m, just like, the ideas guy. So, I went to her to be like, ‘What do we do?’ So, now Cole [Escola] is writing it, and they’re perfect.
Avengers: Doomsday
Channing Tatum suggested Avengers: Doomsday may be “the biggest movie of the next ten years” in a recent interview with Deadline.
Look, everyone in the world is going to see this movie. It’s hard to say this because, I mean, you hear these things and go, ‘Of course’. But they’ve topped themselves every time. This will be the biggest movie of next year and maybe even the next 10 years. The scope of it, what they’re trying to do, what the Russos have cooked up – when I read it, I was just like, ‘How are they going to do this?’ It was an Everest of a mountain to climb. I am still in awe. I do so much action in this movie, but that was just a small part.
Highlander
Dave Bautista fielded a question about the Highlander reboot’s multiple delays in a new interview with MovieWeb.
I would be speaking out of turn if I said I knew what the issues were, but obviously, what the public does know and what I do know is that they changed studios. That just changed the trajectory of everything because it just leaves everything up in the air. You start to lose your slot here and there, and everything that you already planned is completely shifted. Everybody’s contracts change, and then when you go to a new studio, they want to look at the script, and they want to pick it apart again, and then you’re getting notes from, like, 20 different executives. I imagine that had a lot to do with it.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
Elle Fanning also confirmed to Collider she’s finished filming her scenes for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping and “the clothes are great,” if nothing else.
Well, I’m done filming it, so that’s done. Effie’s on the screen, which is super cool. The clothes are great.
Daredevil: Born Again
Speaking with Comic Book Movie, Tony Dalton confirmed he’s set to reprise his role as Jack Duquesne in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again.
I did a bunch of action stuff in this next one that is coming out of Daredevil. And man, I got hurt, I got hurt hard. I mean, I think I must have chipped a rib or something, because two or three weeks I was in bed. I had bruises all over my back. It was hard. Those guys go hard.
It: Welcome to Derry
Finally, the U.S. military wants Pennywise for its own nefarious ends in the trailer for next week’s episode of It: Welcome to Derry.
