Completion guarantee firm Media Guarantors has appointed Angus Sutherland as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Client Relationships.
In his role at the firm, Sutherland will oversee client relationships and interface with indie producers, production companies and financiers worldwide. His focus will be on financial and logistical management, mitigating potential risks, ensuring successful project deliveries, and driving business growth through innovation.
Sutherland started out as an actor before turning to production. He was a co-producer on Sam Mendes’ Oscar winner 1917 for New Republic Pictures, where he worked in production and acquisitions, and before that was an executive producer on crime pic November Criminals and a production coordinator on the Oscar-winning doc Undefeated.
“The entertainment industry navigates a complex landscape of nuanced risks, requiring expertise and a keen eye to identify and mitigate production challenges from project inception through filming and successful delivery,” Media Guarantors president and CEO Fred Milstein said. “As we continue to grow, Angus’ fresh perspective will be invaluable to the critical work at hand. His wealth of experience brings unmatched insight to clients, helping them navigate the risks and challenges of independent film production.”
Added Sutherland: “Joining Media Guarantors is an incredible opportunity to contribute to an organization that plays a vital role in independent film production. Fred Milstein’s leadership has been instrumental in developing innovative solutions for filmmakers, and I’m honored to join his exceptional team. I’m also excited to collaborate with Douglas Turk from CAC Group, whose expertise in the sector will be invaluable as we refine our processes and expand our capabilities. I look forward to delivering outstanding support for every project and helping the company adapt to the evolving needs of the independent film industry.”
Media Guarantors is part of the CAC Group of insurance brokers and advisers.
Sutherland is part of the Sutherland dynasty that includes late father Donald Sutherland, actors Kiefer Sutherland and Rossif Sutherland, and CAA Media Finance executive Roeg Sutherland.
