If you're always on the prowl for new movie night options, you could be interested in Mufasa: The Lion King's streaming service release date.

A prequel to Disney's 2019 Lion King remake, the Mufasa movie will let out a roar on Disney Plus later this month. Barry Jenkins directs the film, which chronicles the rise of Simba's dad and includes songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. In the film, Rafiki fills in Simba and Nala's daughter, Kiara -- played by Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy Carter -- on Mufasa's legend.

Mufasa: The Lion King will hit Disney Plus shortly after the sequel film to Moana sails onto the streamer. The new, flashback-incorporating Lion King movie premiered in theaters in December. Here's what you need to know to stream it.

How to watch Mufasa: The Lion King on Disney Plus

The live-action prequel will claw its way onto Disney Plus on March 26

It's typical for Disney Plus to make new titles available at 12:01 a.m. PT (3:01 a.m. ET), and CNET has reached out to Disney to confirm Mufasa: The Lion King will follow that timing.

Newcomers to Disney Plus can choose from two main plans: Disney Plus Basic, which costs $10 a month and includes ads, and Disney Plus Premium, which runs $16 a month and is mostly commercial-free. Premium also throws in downloads, and you can pay for a year upfront for $160.

If Disney Plus isn't the only streamer you're interested in, you can consider bundling it with another service (or two). Currently, you can opt for the combination of a.) Disney Plus and Hulu, b.) Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN Plus or c.) Disney Plus, Hulu and Max. Disney's site has more information

Disney is currently running a deal that applies to one of its bundles of Disney Plus and Hulu. The package that includes the ad-supported version of those services usually costs $11 a month, but you can opt to pay $3 per month for four months.
