It sounds like we’re going to get a look at Avengers: Doomsday in the near future—or rather, looks, plural.
Reports online have alleged Marvel Studios is looking to create separate previews for the upcoming superhero film that’ll play ahead of next week’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. Previous reports claimed there’d be a trailer, similar to The Odyssey playing before Jurassic World Rebirth, and it makes sense for Disney to do that with its 2026 Christmas film. But according to journalist Daniel Richtman, it’s a bit more than that: instead of a single preview, there’ll actually be four teasers that’ll reportedly drop once a week.
This has since been corroborated by the Hollywood Reporter, whose sources told the outlet each week will bring a new trailer: the first trailer on week one, second on week two, etc. Like THR, io9 reached out to Disney to confirm or corroborate this information, and at time of writing, the studio has yet to comment.
Why four, other than ensuring people go see Avatar? Well, Robert Downey Jr. is playing Doctor Doom, longtime nemesis of the Fantastic Four, so it may be a reference to that. It might also call to the four big teams in the film—not just the Fantastic Four, but Captain America’s Avengers team, the New Avengers, and the returning X-Men. Maybe the teasers each focus on a different team, with Doom being in each one?
We’ll have more on Avengers: Doomsday, including its preview(s), ahead of its release on December 18, 2026.
