PS5 State of Play February 2025: the best trailers and biggest reveals

Hell is Us launches on September 4th.

I’m not sure what the... heck... is going on in this new trailer, but I dig the weird and horror-y vibes of the game. It also has no map, which sounds intriguing and hopefully not terrible. It’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC.

PlayStation’s next remaster: Days Gone.

Days Gone Remastered is launching on April 25th on PS5, Sony announced today. It has new modes, including a permadeath and a speedrun mode. If you own the PS4 version, you’ll be able to upgrade to this remastered version for $10, according to a blog post. And on PC, you can pay $10 if you own the game to get new features as well.

This is like, the 70th night at Freddy’s.

There were sister locations, help was wanted (a couple of times), then there was a security breach. Now the next calamity in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series involves mimics. During the PlayStation State of Play presentation, Steel Wool Productions showed off a first look at gameplay for Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic. Find those mimics and dodge murderous animatronics for minimum wage when Secret of the Mimic launches June 13th.

It was all a dream.

Pixeljunk studio Q-Games is back with an ambitious looking game called Dreams of Another. Here’s the description: “Rather than destroying objects by shooting — as in traditional shooting games — here, your shots materialize and rebuild the world. This unconventional mechanic offers a gameplay experience that challenges the norms of the genre and invites players into a whole new dimension.” It launches later this year.

Commencing operation Snake Eater -- for real this time.

As leaked last week via the Playstation Store, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28th, 2025, as shown in today’s State of Play show. And yes, it will actually bring back the Ape Escape-themed mode.

Wouldn’t Sonic be faster if he ran?

PlayStation debuted the trailer for the next Sonic racing game, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds during its February State of Play presentation. As slick as this new Sonic racing game looks, its existence begs the question: why does Sonic need to drive? He’s already quote unquote “the fastest thing alive,” driving a car would unnec— Wait, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launches on PlayStation sometime this year.

Dave the Diver is getting a Like A Dragon crossover.

It will include a side-scrolling beat ‘em up mode, apparently. It comes out in April 2025.

There will also be a demo available on PlayStation for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, which launches on February 21st.

There’s a new trailer for the looter shooter, but more importantly we finally have a release date: September 23rd.

Swinging swords like Shinobi.

Another classic action franchise is coming back, this time with Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, from the same developers behind Streets of Rage 4. It launches August 29th.

A new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds kicked off today’s PlayStation State of Play show, and the game looks great. The trailer says that the game will get a free title updates in the spring and summer that add new content.

Will there be some Xbox in this PlayStation event?

One of the more interesting stories to follow during today’s State of Play stream will be whether or not any of Microsoft’s big franchises are present, as the company is pushing forward with its multiplatform plans. In fact, many of its biggest upcoming games are coming to PS5.
