Storage capacities are one of the few things that seems to actually be going down in price these days. It’s becoming easier and easier for engineers to deliver us more and more data in smaller and smaller packages. Just a handful of years ago, the thought of a single terabyte seemed like a joke. Now you can get twice that on a microSD card about a centimeter long.

Well, friends this might be one of the most affordable storage options I’ve ever seen when looking at a per-byte level. Seagate has a huge external hard drive capable of storing 14TB. Right now, Best Buy has dropped it from its base price of $320 to just $192 (40% off). That works out to roughly a penny per gig. I guess about a penny and a half, but still. That’s incredible.

There are several different options for size options available for the HDD. It starts as low as 8TB and goes up as high as 28TB. Most of them however are not discounted and the ones that are are only down about $15. The exception is the 14TB HDD which is $128 off which shakes out to a discount of 40%.

Plug-and-Play With a Generous Capacity

Setup is super easy, anyone can do it. Just plug the drive into a USB Type-A 3.0 port and then open your device’s file manager whether its File Explorer on Windows or Finder on a Mac. The drive should be an option to choose from among your other drives. You can now just simply drag and drop files right from your desktop to the HDD and vice versa.

The Seagate 14TB HDD with its high capacity does need to some power to get working. Smaller drives are usually up and running just from the USB cable their connected to your computer with. This big one does use an 18W power adapter, but that just as simple as plugging it into the wall.

For use with a Mac, it does require formatting but that’s also pretty straight forward. Just plug in the drive and open up you Mac’s Disk Utility application and follow the steps there. Just make sure you are doing so first thing because any data already saved to the drive before formatting will be erased.

For a limited time, you can secure yourself Seagate’s 14TB HDD for a 40% discount. That brings the price down from its listed value of $320 to just $192. You’ll be saving $128.
