Spring cleaning takes me no time with my favorite smart home devices

Nothing screams "fresh start" more than decluttering and deep cleaning your home. You may feel an itch for cleaning and decluttering as you emerge from your wintry cocoon to stretch out and enjoy the warmer weather. Wipe away the mounds of pollen and get rid of the wintry decor hanging around your house: it's time for a spring clean.

The only problem with all that scrubbing, mopping, vacuuming, and more is how much effort and time you must dedicate to it -- and how often you must repeat the back-breaking tasks to keep your home in tip-top shape. As a self-proclaimed clean freak who looks forward to cleaning, I've mastered the art of doing it without breaking my back -- and with my favorite gadgets, from my go-to robot vacuum to my electric spin scrubber, you can, too. These devices have given me my time back and kept my house in great shape, and sometimes they do a better job cleaning than I do.

A robot vacuum and mop combination is essential for effortless cleaning sessions. No one should have to declutter, clean, and disinfect everything to then bust their backs vacuuming a floor -- especially when robots are up for the challenge.

The new Eufy Omni E28 is one of the best robot vacuum and mop combinations I have at home -- and one of the few I'm likely to keep after testing. This robot vacuum also has a portable spot cleaner for rugs and upholstery so that you can kiss stains and spills goodbye.

To clean your floors, you add fresh water to the clean water tank and empty out the dirty water every few cleanings. The robot vacuum can empty its dustbin at the dock, so you only need to replace the dust bag in the charging station every six weeks or as needed.

The top-of-the-line Eufy Omni E28 features 20,000Pa of suction power, so it picks up dust, crumbs, and all the pet hair on my floors daily. The mop roller spins and cleans your floors with only clean water. It can also scrub stuck-on dirt and grime from your floors. It also puts 3.3kg of downward pressure when mopping.

If you're tired of getting on your knees to scrub the bathtub or on your tip toes to scrub the shower tiles, get an extendable electric spin scrubber instead -- and thank me later. This electric spin scrubber brush has made a bigger difference in my bathroom cleaning routine than anything else. With a USB-C charging port, you only need to charge this brush for about three hours before you use it and then enjoy 450 rpm of cleaning power for up to 90 minutes.

This brush includes seven brush heads, a charging cable, and an extendable handle that can adjust from 12 to 54 inches long. Thanks to this electric spin brush, I don't have to constantly bend over to scrub the bathtub tile, and the separate brush heads mean I can always find the perfect one to reach corners and edges to wash away dirt and grime.

Okay, so you don't need a window-cleaning robot, but this one has made my spring cleaning so much easier this year, reaching windows that are too tall for me and cleaning both indoors and out. The Winbot W2 Omni is perfect for apartments with large windows, especially when you can't reach them fully.

I've used the Winbot W2 Omni to clean the muddy paw prints on my sunroom glass doors in one go and the foyer window that I can't reach. It sticks to windows like magic and is exceedingly effective on even the dirtiest windows, giving you crystal-clear windows with little work.

Keep in mind, however, that this product is frequently returned on Amazon, according to the product's page.

The Roborock Flexi Lite is a great self-propelled wet/dry vacuum and mop. It looks like a standup vacuum, but you add clean water to its tank, and it can suction anything, wet or dry. It can vacuum pet hair, dust, crumbs, and wet messes like spilled juice, milk, or sauces.

I use this vacuum mop for everything around my home, and it'll completely change your cleaning routine if you've never used one. All you have to do is turn it on with a full clean water tank and direct it to where you need to clean. The device is self-propelled, so you don't have to push it; it glides effortlessly across your floors.

It vacuums and mops as it goes, so all you have to do is steer it around during cleaning. Once done, you can put the Flexi Lite on the dock to charge and run a self-cleaning cycle. The vacuum/mop will wash its mop roller with clean water from its tank. I only recommend you empty and rinse the dirty water tank after each use to avoid odors.

Robot vacuums are pretty mainstream, but what about a robot mower? The Mammotion Luba 2 is a top-performing option. This is one of the many robot mowers I've tested, and I couldn't be happier with its performance.

I don't have a huge yard (about 0.3 acres), but it is very uneven. For example, the EcoFlow Blade used to often get stuck on uneven terrain and stalled until someone came to rescue it, but the Luba 2 can handle the hills like a pro, leaving a beautiful checkerboard pattern in its wake.

Nothing says spring like a beautifully trimmed yard. The Luba 2 weaves around obstacles and predetermined no-go zones as gracefully as the race car it resembles. It mows so well that it's effectively taken over my weekend chore. The Mammotion app allows you to easily adjust mowing height, pattern, and mapping and set no-go zones, like a garden bed in the middle of your yard.

I'm a smart home tech reviewer, and I cover a lot of devices that automate cleaning tasks, including the robot vacuum category. Notably, not all of these devices are worth your hard-earned money, so I only recommend the ones I've tested that have proven to meet or exceed expectations.

For this story, I chose only the smart home cleaning devices that have become my personal favorites, especially as I navigated spring cleaning this year.

You can start by decluttering to get rid of unused items, donating the stuff you don't want, organize where you'd like things to go (a label maker is a winner here), and then deep clean.

Also: Everything you need for spring cleaning

When people talk about spring cleaning, they typically include cleaning your baseboards, windows and window treatments, walls that need it, removing cobwebs, vacuuming your air vents, and more. I also freshen up the yard, clean out my garage, and reorganize my family's drawers. You'd be surprised how much dirt and dust accumulates in drawers, closets, and more, so giving them a proper wipe-down refreshes your space and eliminates gunk.

The recent US tariffs on imports from countries like China, Vietnam, and India aim to boost domestic manufacturing but are likely to drive up prices on consumer electronics. Products like smartphones, laptops, and TVs may become more expensive as companies rethink global supply chains and weigh the cost of shifting production.

Consumers may also experience notable price increases on robot vacuums and smart home products. Manufacturers are exploring options such as relocating production to countries with lower tariffs, but such transitions are complex and may not provide immediate relief. In the short term, shoppers should anticipate higher costs for robot vacuums due to these trade policies.
