The New ‘Critical Role’ Trailer Ushers in Campaign 4

3 hours ago 6

Change is coming to Critical Role with its fourth major campaign: a new setting, more cast members, and Dimension 20‘s Brennan Lee Mulligan at the helm make things more different than they’ve been in some time for the decade-old Actual Play series.

Ahead of Campaign 4’s debut in three weeks, the first real trailer gives an idea of what to expect with this new dynamic. It largely consists of Mulligan narrating as the assembled players actually play the game—it’s Dungeons & Dragons again, the go-to TTRPG for most Critical Role ventures.

Prior to this, we learned the Campaign’s set in the world Aramán, where the gods have died and a man named Thjazi Fang has been marked for execution. Three groups of adventurers, the Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers, endeavor to find out what happened to Fang and explore their now godless world.

Cast-wise, the table includes Critical Role mainstays Laura Bailey as Thimble, Taliesin Jaffe as Bolaire Lathalia, Travis Willingham as Teor Pridesire, Marisha Ray as Murray Mag’nesson, Liam O’Brien as Halandril Fang, Sam Riegel as Wicander Halovar, Ashley Johnson as Valeus, and Matt Mercer as Julian Davinos.

Recurring Role stars Robbie Daymond, Aabria Iyengar, and Luis Carazo play Kattigan Vale, Thaisha Lloy, and Azune Nayar, respectively; newer players Whitney Moore and Alexander Ward will portray Tyranny and Occtis Tachonis. The cast revealed their characters ahead of the trailer in a lengthy thread below.

The exact three-team composition for this cast hasn’t been revealed, but the Campaign has been likened to Free Marches and will see the groups rotate out each week, if not each episode. The stars have also teased the vibes of their individual characters, which you can watch here.
