Medusa Ponytails

"Medusa ponytails are a fun way to amp up your pony," says hairstylist Stephanie Angelone. "It's pulled up just like a regular ponytail, but instead of having your hair hang in multiple braids to give a 'Medusa look.' Summer is humid — braiding your ponytails will help prevent the summer humidity frizz."

To get the look, Angelone recommends a pomade and boar bristle polishing brush like the RPZL Boar Bristle Brush ($30). Use the brush to slick your hair back into the ponytail, spray your hair with some texture spray to give it grit, and then braid.

Claw Clips

"Claw clips are so trendy this year because you can just throw your hair up in one for the gym or you can create a whole style with them for when you're going out," Angelone says. "Summer is also the time of year when your hair needs to be up at all times."

We love options like the Emi Jay Luna Clip in Cherry on Top ($38). "Half-up half-down is one of my favorite effortless ways to wear a claw clip. It's an easy way to amp up your hair when you're unsure of what style you're going for."

French Pins

"In summer it gets hot, so reach for your French pins and silk scrunchies for my long hair girlies," says hairstylist Rachel Lee. "Long layers will always be timeless, so make sure to pull those face-framing pieces and maybe even give them a little wave for some summer natural wave vibes."

"Wet" Looks

The "wet" hair look made waves during award season. Stars like Ciara, Kim Kardashian, and Hunter Schafer all took part in the trend. The best part? The style is perfect if you're in a pinch.

The style is also extremely versatile and works regardless of hair length (Kourtney Kardashian wore her bob in a flipped-ends style when sporting the look), so don't let the length of you hair stop you from experimenting. Feathered Bangs

The '70s-style Farrah Fawcett hairstyle is getting an update. Feathered bangs have been all over TikTok, and stylists agree that the look is perfect for summer. If you have long hair and you want a refresh without getting rid of too much length, feathered bangs are the way to go.

Beachy Shag

The shag haircut has been on a comeback tour this past year, and we've seen it worn in a variety of ways. Last summer, the curly shag was everywhere, but celebrity hairstylist Senada K. Ceka is convinced that the "beachy shag" will be everywhere in the next few months.

'90s Headbands

Remember those chunky fabric headbands that people wore in the '90s? They're going to be everywhere this summer. It makes sense: they keep your hair out of your face and sweat at bay. The style has been worn by everyone from Bella Hadid and Lori Harvey to Nicola Peltz Beckham and Olivia Culpo.

Layered Braids

If you're looking for protective summer hairstyles, try layered braids. This hairstyle is making a comeback from the '90s and '00s. The protective hairstyle consists of different layers and lengths throughout the style. They're stunning and look great on any hair color.
