WrestleMania 41 Has Its First Match
Jey Uso vs Gunther For The World Heavyweight Champion Is Happening At Mania
It may have happened with little fanfare at Saturday Night's Main Event, but Jey Uso has made the decision to face Gunther at WrestleMania 41. Cody Rhodes on white-hot form would be a bridge too far for Jey, and there is unfinished business with the big Austrian and his attitude towards the Royal Rumble winner. Gunther's reluctance to take Uso seriously is going to be a major factor between now and Vegas, and this program started as it should.
Despite just winning the Rumble, Main Event Jey Uso should be a giant underdog going into Mania, especially in the gambling capital of the world. Gunther has been the pinnacle of in-ring excellence for much of the past few years, and the most respected wrestler on the roster. It is fitting that Jey asked for the match after being brutalized. Hyped up and ready to Yeet, a stadium full of people should feel like the impossible was made possible if he overcomes the World Heavyweight Champion in Vegas. That is an almighty "if" though.
Jey Uso has won the Royal Rumble and is going to WrestleMania in the biggest upset in Rumble history, breaking a decades long tradition in the WWE.
Iyo Sky Refuses To Take Her Defeat Lying Down
Rhea Ripley And Liv Morgan Feel The Wrath Of The Genius Of The Sky
It has been quite the start to the year for Iyo Sky. Having lasted one hour and six minutes in the Royal Rumble but falling foul to Nia Jax's reign of terror, she also had Rhea Ripley's impulsiveness to thank for her being DQ'd and missing out on Elimination Chamber. Ordinarily intense but fun, Iyo Sky was in no laughing mood on Monday Night Raw.
Stalling Damage CTRL's entrance to confront Raw's resident Champion, it was great for Iyo to show her grit by barging into Rhea Ripley's interview. After pinning Liv Morgan in the tag team match, Iyo then learned she will face Rhea Ripley for the world title on the Monday Night Raw after Elimination Chamber to attempt to fulfill her WrestleMania destiny. Expect Rhea and Iyo to up the intensity in the coming weeks to make up for their lack of bad blood.
Pro wrestling and its larger-than-life stories have inspired not just fans, but also some great movies that range from tear-jerking drama to comedies.
CM Punk Makes An Enemy Of John Cena
The First Shots Of 2025 Have Been Fired At Big Match John
Even on a quiet Monday Night Raw, there is no such thing as a quiet CM Punk. Having punched his ticket to Elimination Chamber with a grizzly win over Sami Zayn on last week's show and Cody Rhodes taking a stray bullet, Punk took aim at Cena and his automatic bye to the Chamber. This is a friendlier CM Punk, but you can only be so cuddly when you're threatening to punch everybody's sweetheart in the face.
The more you think about it, Punk has to call out the superstar getting a free ride. Cena has earned it 50 times over (and, more crucially, he's currently shooting Mattel's Matchbox movie), but it's about time someone told John that nobody is lying down for his last hurrah. Logan Paul quickly became the focus of Punk's attention, but the seeds are definitely being sewn for Punk and Cena to throw hands on this farewell run.
Chances are that even this headline got a reaction from WWE fans. He's Logan Paul, and this is what he does.
The Judgment Day Consider A New Member
Dom And Liv Bring Fresh Meat To The Table
The Judgment Day has been a weird faction for months at this point. A faction that doesn't actually seem to like each other very much is a fresh approach to a long-standing idea, but Finn Balor and The Judgment Day have been off for months. There is surely an endgame in mind, but it has been no clearer to appearing whatsoever. Or at least until now.
The idea was shot down immediately by Balor, but it seems Dom and Liv may be plotting new blood for The Judgment Day. With JD McDonagh on the shelf, no championships within their ranks, and a fear of stagnation that's creeping in week by week, a new flavor within The Judgment Day feels like a positive idea at this point, and there will be no shortage of takers to join their ranks. The only question remaining is "who?"
A slow Monday Night Raw is offset by the news thatWrestleMania 41 has its first official match. Jey Uso will challenge Gunther at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and there is plenty of time for the pair to tell a compelling story. AJ Styles is back and admits he thought his career was over, and CM Punk being the first superstar to threaten John Cena was a welcome lick of paint to the John Cena Farewell Tour. The idea of a new member in The Judgment Day feels welcome at this point, but this was a pretty lacklustre episode of WWE's flagship show.
