Trade in any phone at Verizon and get an iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch for free. Here's how

2 weeks ago 4

Let's be real: it's getting harder and harder to afford technology, especially with rising costs and tariffs. If a new phone, tablet, or smartwatch feels out of reach, you may want to check out this Verizon deal: Trade in select phones from brands like Apple, Google, Motorola, or Samsung, while being a new or existing customer of the provider's myPlans, and receive a free iPhone Pro, iPad, and Apple Watch

That's right: All three devices are free.

The fine print, of course, is that you'll have to pay for a service plan for the iPad and Apple Watch along with the phone. But that's still thousands of dollars worth of tech for free.

More details: You will be locked in a 3-year contract, as the devices will be paid out monthly for 26 months. Some people don't like that type of commitment, and that's understandable.

You will also have to pay sales tax for the devices and pay for your new Verizon plan. Therefore, it's up to you to decide whether the new devices are worth these fees.

Review: iPhone 16 Pro's camera

However, the iPhone 16 Pro is a great phone if you choose it for your next upgrade. For those who need some camera updates, the Pro has you covered. It features a new 48MP Ultra-Wide camera as well as a 5x telephoto lens for long-distance shooting.

ZDNET senior editor Sabrina Ortiz tested out the iPhone 16 Pro camera and said she was especially impressed by the Photographic Styles option.

"The best part is that you can now adjust them with an intuitive control pad that allows you to quickly customize any of the Photographic Styles by swiping up and down to control the tone and left and right to control the color. You can also tweak the settings after the shot if you change your mind," she wrote.

Don't worry, there are plenty of other upgrades as well, including Apple Intelligence. You'll also find an AI image generator, and that Siri can access ChatGPT. There are writing tools available as well.

The iPhone 16 Pro paired with an iPad and an Apple Watch would be a terrific triple threat. And with this Verizon deal, you're getting all of them for free.

How I rated this deal

There are a lot of moving parts with this deal. First, you have to trade in a qualifying device. This means a newer phone from Apple, Samsung, Motorola, or Google. After that, you have to either join a Verizon plan or already be an existing customer. Then, your devices are paid out by Verizon for 36 months. Not to mention, you also have to pay for a service plan for the iPad and Apple Watch. Considering these factors, plus the free devices, we give this deal a 4/5 Editor's deal rating. It's still a great deal since you're getting the devices for free, but you still have to pay for something, which is the data plans.
