Xfinity to Increase Broadband Speeds Across All US Markets

3 days ago 1

Xfinity Internet tiers will be getting a speed boost in markets across the country. Comcast announced today that it's ramping up the internet speeds of its Xfinity cable broadband offerings, impacting over 20 million homes. These enhanced speeds, mostly on the upload side, will be available for new and existing customers and will take place over existing fiber-cable connections.

Emily Waldorf, senior vice president of Consumer Products, Comcast Connectivity and Platforms, said in a news release, "Our faster download and upload speeds... are providing customers with a converged connectivity experience that we believe is unmatched in the industry."

The headliner here is faster upload speeds across most Xfinity plans. While your download speed is typically the sexier number (it's what we use to stream all our favorite Netflix shows, for example), upload speeds are crucial, too. Increased upload speeds are advantageous for those working from home -- for uploading large files -- or influencers looking to post their latest videos to TikTok, Instagram or Bluesky.

Customers should note that while this rollout is occurring across the country, it will be seen in about one in three Xfinity households -- 20 million customers is a third of the approximately 64 million US homes and businesses that Xfinity covers. For those that will be affected by this upgrade, here's what you should expect to see:

Xfinity customers should see no changes to the pricing for existing plans. Comcast also announced that new and existing customers can get Unlimited on Xfinity Mobile included for a year if they are signed up for a Connect More (400Mbps) or higher tier.
