There ain't a whole lot of places like AFC Richmond, right? Coach Lasso's words have new meaning now that Apple TV Plus announced Ted Lasso season 4 has been greenlit. On Friday, the company shared the series will return to the streaming service, with star Jason Sudeikis reprising his role as the tenderhearted coach.
The last time fans saw Ted in season 3, he'd left London and returned home to Wichita, Kansas, to spend more time with his son, and wound up coaching the youth soccer time. Meanwhile, Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) sold part of AFC Richmond to the football club's fans. The shortbread biscuit ritual came to a sweet end.
But Sudeikis hints that season 4 will see the team take big risks.
"As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to 'look before we leap," said Sudeikis, "in season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be."
Sudeikis is an executive producer on the upcoming installment of the Emmy-winning series, along with Brett Goldstein (who's also writing), Brendan Hunt, Jack Burditt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Wrubel.
Rumors have been swirling about the show's possible return ever since it ended in 2023, with some viewers hoping to see Ted reunite with Roy (Goldstein), Keeley (Juno Temple), Rebecca and Coach Beard (Hunt). The new season is reportedly in production, but while you wait, you can stream the first three seasons of Ted Lasso on Apple TV Plus.
